It's the ultimate challenge: breaking into the Ivy League.
The Hack: To get one deadbeat, underqualified slacker into the most prestigious school in the country.
The Crew: Eric Roth--the good guy, the voice of reason. Max Kim--the player who made the bet in the first place. Schwarz--the kid genius already on the inside...of Harvard, that is. Lex--the little-miss-perfect valedictorian who insists on getting in the game.
The Plan: Use only the most undetectable schemes and techno-brilliant skills. Don't break the Hacker's Code. Don't get distracted. Don't get caught. Take down someone who deserves it.
The Stakes: A lot higher than they think.
They've got the players, the plot, and soon--the prize. It's go time.
Review:
I was very excited about reading this book. I mean, Harvard is the pinnacle of academic achievement, the crowning glory of all of the colleges in the US. Or is it? Would it really be possible to bluff someone into that hallowed epitome of the Ivy League schools, however illegally?
I was immediately drawn into the plot, especially because of the loveable main characters. Eric is without doubt my favorite, but, then, I'm always drawn to the handsome hero. I found Schwarz's character highly amusing, especially because of his nervous habit--listing Playboy bunnies in order, starting in 1956.
I found myself racing through this book, wondering whether or not this latest and greatest "hack" of Max's would succeed.
The ending left a bit to be desired, especially due to what I felt was an extreme lack of closure. However, this was the lowest point in a highly enjoyable book.
Grade: A-
